Since launching its biotech campaign in September 2000, the Free State of Saxony has become one of the most dynamic life sciences regions in Germany – and has now set its sights on Europe. New branches of existing companies and entirely new businesses are creating a critical mass of research and business, particularly around the start-up centers of Leipzig and Dresden. The organizer
bionection is being hosted by biosaxony, the biotechnology & medical technology cluster for Saxony. The network bundles the forces of all partners, such as companies, research institutes, as well as industry stakeholders and suppliers, and represents their interests in politics and the public.
biosaxony’s responsibilities include initiating projects between industry and research, pinpointing services and know-how, and highlighting regional expertise in order to support the productive development of these cross-cutting technologies. In addition, the support of young innovative companies is one of the main concerns of the network.
The development of new ideas and the expansion of a sustainable technology transfer, for example in the context of the annual partnering conference bionection, are further key areas of the cluster work. Local work is strengthened by biosaxony’s offices in Leipzig and Dresden.
